SunPower Solar Panels

SunPower Corporation designs, manufactures, and sells high-efficiency solar cells and solar panels. These generate electricity from sunlight for residential, commercial, and remote power applications. SunPower claims that their products perform 50 percent better than other systems. SunPower sells their solar panels in the US via their dealer network and their exclusive channel partner, SunTechnics.

History

SunPower, founded in 1985, is a majority-owned subsidiary of Cypress Semiconductor Corp. The company was originally funded in part by the US Department of Energy and the Electric Power Research Institute. In 2001, SunPower solar cells were used to power NASA's Helios airplane.

Photovoltaic (PV) Product Lines

SunPower makes the range of products that go into an integrated solar power system: solar cells, panel inverters, and imaging detectors. Their line of solar panels consists of the SPR-220, SPR-215, and SPR-95. They also cost less to install. The SPR 215 model solar panel features an aesthetically pleasing black roof-mounted design.

Warranty

SunPower Solar Panels come with a 25-year manufacturer's warranty on the power output. SunPower guarantees that there will be 90% of the rated power output for the first 12 years from the date of supply and 80% of the rated power output for the entire 25 years. SunPower further warrants that their solar panels will be free from defects for 10 years from date of supply. Defective panels in the first 10 years will be replaced free of cost.
